300KMile ratingKnown issues to check on the 2020 Honda Civic
One widely reported problem pattern applies to this model year. That does not mean this car has the fault — many were fixed under warranty or recall — but it is what to check, and what to ask the seller for, before you buy.
- 1.5L turbo engineWorth checking
The 1.5-litre turbo in these years is widely reported to dilute its engine oil with fuel in short-trip and cold-climate use, raising the oil level and thinning it.
What to check: Pull the dipstick and smell for fuel; check the level is not above full. Ask whether the software and hardware update campaign was applied and how the car was driven.
Patterns are drawn from NHTSA recalls and complaints, manufacturer service bulletins and consistent owner reporting. Always confirm open recalls against the VIN and get an independent pre-purchase inspection.
